June 9-16 Adriaan visiting

Adriaan, a friend from Oregon, was able to visit us over 2 weekends. He went to Palau during the week to dive. We had fun taking him around the island and on two of the best dives here - the Blue Hole and the Tokai and Cormoran wreck dive. We also hiked up (almost) to Mt Lam Lam. Fun times!
Toby went in for a drink, tried to turn around, and got stuck
(don't worry, we didn't leave him there)

We got a bit lost. It didn't turn out as good, but the next pic I snapped was Adriaan and Max pointing different directions! But we made it out before the sun went down.

We also hiked on AWR property
Like Max's sock tan?!

June 3- Bile Bay and Umatac Bay dives

Gordon, Kay, and two other friends took us on two new dives.
The first, Bile (pronounced "billy") Bay, had a lot of shelf corals

More anenome fish

We saw a sting ray and octopus on the 2nd dive
The next 3 pictures were taken within a minute of the same octopus,
amazing how fast they change color!

Max also found an eel

June 3 and 17- Aquathon and sprint triathlon

The SDA women's ministries had "The every woman" Aquathon, trying to promote health in our churches. There were around 80 participants, if I understood correctly. The longer version that I did was 200 meter swim and 5 K run.
Right before we started there was a full rainbow- pretty neat!

I'm behind a friend. I was trying to keep up with her and not bump into her. But I realized  later that I would have been drafting off of her- not my intention!

The sprint triathlon was 2 weeks later. Several of my friends also participated.
It was a 750 meter swim, 13 mile bike, and 5 k run. I completed it in 1 hour, 26 minutes.
I came in 19th out of 53, with Erika (on the left) on my heals. I was 5th for women overall.
It was a lot of fun (other than the heat during the run).
