This week at AWR

This week we focused on compacting the bottom of the anchor holes, which has to be done before the rebar cages are set and the concrete is poured.  This was the first hole I worked in - David showing me how to use the jumping jack.

The guys from South Africa getting the new tower sections put together

Building the road down to the bottom anchors so that trucks can get down there.  It will also be used to access the new antenna field next year.

Sammy taking a turn at the jumping jack - what I was using most the week.  Video posted

Gordon excavating the hole for the mast base - 25 ft

Checking the dimensions at the bottom.  It was nice and cool down here.

We cut the end off a 20 ft container and dropped it in to safeguard against the walls collapsing.

More progress on the new tower sections

Trying the get the container in the right spot

We had to go down and dig out around the bottom to get it as level as possible.  Not so nice and cool this time

We got a lot done this week.  Back to work on Sunday...

  1. Oh my aren't you learning a lot. Wonder when you'll use that later on! Didn't think about it being cooler down there-bet that it felt good when you were working. So thankful that the tower is getting up.

  2. Noticed the weather for the next 10 days is quite rainy. Will pray God changes it so the towers can go up.
